A newspaper clipping from 2015 during the Genocide's 100th anniversary.

Diana has been to the genocide commemoration every year in New York as it has always been a part of her identity. Remembering and listening about the Armenian Genocide has caused generational trauma on Diana. She describes that even though being a child of a survivor of the Armenian Genocide has been more of a "positive" experience for herself, she has found that trauma has followed her.

"I've had melancholy. Even as a child, and it was hard to understand what was it about. Eventually I realized that it wasn't just because it's a bad thing that happened, it was also something that you can inherit in your DNA".

Generational trauma is passed on even without having a negative experience. The trauma is passed on because Diana is Armenian and her family went through these traumatic events. Even after 100 years of the Armenian Genocide, generations continue to live with this trauma that their family members lived through.
